Sightseeing
There are a number of tourist attractions to visit in and around Amritsar. However, most of the places are of religious and historical importance. Golden temple which is located in the heart of the city, the Jalianwallah Bagh which is a memorial of the martyrs of the 1919, the Durgiana Mandir that is dedicated to the Hindu goddess Durga, Baba Atal Rai Tower and the Wagah Border are some of the main tourist attractions out here.
Excursions
An excursion outside the city is a must while in Amritsar. Tarn Taran which is famous for its sacred tank, Gobindwal Sahib (famous as the final resting place of Guru Angad Devji), Amanat Khan Serai(known for its ornamental gateway, Baba Bakala (famous for its Gurudwara dedicated to Guru Tegh Bahadurji) and Dharamsala, a popular hill station in the neighbouring Himachal Pradesh, are some of the must visit excursion points easily accessible from the city of Amritsar. |
